Paint Correction

Most cars are not dull. They are scratched. Correction levels the swirls out and the depth comes back.

What you get

Paint Correction

  • Inspection under proper lighting
  • Full decontamination
  • Machine polishing, staged to the defects
  • A straight answer on what will not come out

The process

How it is done

  1. Inspect

Paint depth measured and the defects mapped under proper lighting. We show you what will come out and what will not.

  2. Wash and decontaminate

Full wash, iron removal and clay so we are polishing paint, not dirt.

  3. Test spot

One panel, one combination of pad and polish, checked before we commit to the whole car.

  4. Correct

Compound and polish, panel by panel, wiped and inspected under light as we go.

  5. Protect

Panel wipe, then sealant or a ShowCar Ceramics coating so the finish you paid for lasts.

How long

Half a day for a single-stage enhancement. A full day, sometimes two, for a two-stage correction on a large or badly swirled vehicle.

What you get back

Depth and clarity back in the paint. Swirls gone under direct sun, reflections sharp instead of hazy. On most daily drivers, 80–95% of visible defects removed.

Worth knowing

Paint Correction, explained

The part most detailers do not bother telling you.

Your paint is thinner than you think

Factory clear coat is roughly 40–60 microns — about half the thickness of a sheet of paper. Correction removes a few microns to level the surface around a scratch. Done properly, once or twice in a car's life is nothing. Done carelessly, or by a cheap 'buff and shine', it burns through an edge and the only fix is paint.

Why gloss is geometry, not product

Shine is light reflecting back at the same angle it arrived. Swirls and etching scatter it in every direction, which reads as haze. No wax, sealant or coating changes that — they sit on top of the defect. Only levelling the surface brings the reflection back, which is why correction comes before coating, never after.

Compound, polish, and the difference

Compound cuts: it removes material quickly and leaves its own fine marring. Polish refines what the compound left, closing the finish down until it reflects cleanly. A one-step uses a single product that does a bit of both — fine for light swirls; not enough for neglected paint.

What we will tell you before we start

We measure the paint and look at it under proper light. If a scratch catches a fingernail it is through the clear coat and correction will soften it, not remove it. You will hear that at the estimate, not after.

Straight answers

What correction does

What it is

Machine polishing that levels the top layer of clear coat by a few microns, so light stops scattering off scratches and reflects straight back. That is where the depth comes from.

What it fixes

Swirl marks from automatic washes and bad towels. Light scratches. Water spots and bird-dropping etching. Oxidation and haze. Holograms left by someone else's polisher.

What it does not fix

Anything through the clear coat. If a scratch catches a fingernail, correction will soften it but not remove it. We tell you before we start.

Stages

Matched to the paint

  1. Single stage

One finishing polish. Removes light swirls and restores gloss. Most daily drivers.

  2. Two stage

Compound, then polish. Deeper defects, older paint, dark colours that show everything.

  3. Coating prep

Correction, panel wipe, then ShowCar Ceramics. The coating locks in what you paid for.

What to expect

Mobile detailing, at your house

No shop, no drop-off, nothing needed from you but a parking spot.

How it works

Book a window in the portal. We text when we are on the way. The van parks in your driveway or the office lot and the technician works around the car where it sits. You do not need to be there.

Water and power

Nothing from you. Every van carries its own fresh-water tank, a pressure washer, a generator and lighting, so we work anywhere a van can park — apartments, offices and garages included.

Time on site

A Shine Club detail runs 60–90 minutes. A Signature Detail is 3–4 hours. Correction and coating days are half a day to a full day depending on the paint. We tell you before we start.

What we bring

Water, power, ShowCar Care products, a two-bucket wash setup, a steam cleaner, a hot-water extractor, machine polishers and the coatings themselves. The only thing we use of yours is the parking spot.

What we need from you

Keys or an open car, and about two van lengths of space. Please clear personal items from the interior — we will not open bags or the glove box.

Weather

Light rain is fine for interiors and coatings under cover. Heavy weather gets rebooked, at no cost, from the portal.

Available in every ShowCar city.

FAQ

No. If it catches a fingernail, it is through the clear coat.
